For the first time, Broadway productions will be included in the 2025 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards (MUAHS). The MUAHS represent achievement in hair and makeup design in film, television, commercials and theater. The Guild, Local 706, is the union representing California hair and makeup artisans under the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). The New York City chapter is Local 798.

While theater has been represented in the awards before as Best Make-Up and Best Hair Styling in Theatrical Productions (Live Stage), the category has been reimagined to honor the Main Stem: Best Make-Up and Hair Styling in a Broadway and International Live Theater Production. Both makeup and hair will be considered jointly in a single category; there will not be separate awards for each discipline. Additionally, there will be a category for Best Make-Up and Best Hairstyling in a California Regional Live Theater Production.

To be eligible, productions must open during the 2024 calendar year. Productions are required to submit a video clip for consideration. The deadline to submit for eligibility is Nov. 1. Nominees in 23 competitive categories will be announced on Dec.10. Complete eligibility and voting rules can be found here.

The 12th annual MUAHS ceremony will take place on Feb. 15, 2025 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
