The Broadway League, in partnership with the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), has announced Teachers Night on Broadway.
Five-hundred New York City public school educators will gather on Feb. 5 to attend the evening performance of “Chicago.” The event recognizes efforts of teachers, chaperones, guidance counselors and more on behalf of Broadway Bridges, an initiative from the League that looks to provide every New York City public high school student with the chance to see a Broadway show before they graduate. More than 80,000 students have already benefited from the program.
A press conference will be held in Times Square prior to the performance to acknowledge support of Broadway Bridges from UFT, the New York City Department of Education and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. President of the Broadway League Charlotte St. Martin is among the scheduled speakers.
Broadway Bridges is set to return for the spring season with 21 participating shows. Teachers who work with sophomore students in the city’s Department of Education can request to apply for tickets through the Broadway League’s website.
