The Broadway Green Alliance (BGA) will host a textile recycling drive. The event will take place on Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m in Duffy Square.
The textile drive allows members of the theater community and the general public to responsibly recycle unwanted clothing and fabrics in a central location. Items that will be accepted include used clothing, shoes, curtains, hats, linens, towels, handbags and belts. Items that will not be accepted include rugs, carpets, comforters, pillows, household items, large luggage, fabric yardage and fabric scraps.
As has been the case for the BGA’s past textile drives, the event is a partnership with Wearable Collections, an organization that helps establish recycling hubs in residential buildings, community gardens and other locations across New York City.
Individuals unable to attend the August drive can drop off their unwanted materials in the refashionNYC textile bin located in the lounge of the Actors’ Equity Association, located on the fourth floor of 165 West 46th Street. The bin is open for donations any day when there are on-site Equity auditions.
The BGA celebrated its 15th anniversary last November.
