Fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS begins Oct. 25.
The fundraising campaign, during which time volunteers and cast members collect donations from audience members in red buckets, raises money for medication, meals and emergency financial assistance through the organization. It takes place at Broadway shows, as well as Off-Broadway shows and some touring productions for the next six weeks.
The Broadway shows beginning fundraising tonight are “Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Derren Brown: Secret,” “The Great Society,” “Hadestown,” “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” “Linda Vista,” “The Lion King,” “Moulin Rouge!,” “Tootsie,” “Wicked,” and Off-Broadway, “The Play That Goes Wrong” and “Scotland, PA.”
This weekend and into next week they’re joined by “Aladdin,” “Betrayal,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Frozen,” “Hamilton,” “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” “Mean Girls,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Waitress” and Off-Broadway’s “Fiddler on the Roof – In Yiddish,” “Jersey Boys,” “A Musical About Star Wars,” “Naked Boys Singing” and “Rock of Ages.”
Additional productions will be added over the six-week period, which culminates in the Red Bucket Follies in early December.
