Broadway capacity hit another high last week, as the industry re-emerged from winter doldrums and the Omicron surge.
Capacity across all Broadway productions for the week ended Feb. 27 reached 92%, topping the previous week’s high of 89.8%. Total gross reached $23 million across 19 productions, the highest gross for the industry since the start of January.
These numbers came amid Winter Break for New York City public schools and the last week of Broadway Week, which offered discounted tickets to shows through Feb. 27.
“Skeleton Crew” closed on Feb. 20 and therefore was not included in the week’s grosses count. However, “Plaza Suite” began previews on Feb. 25, adding to last week’s totals.
The Broadway League has been publicly releasing totals for all Broadway shows, rather than for individual shows. Therefore, the released numbers do not speak to the finances of any particular show.
