Ten shows saw double-digit gross decreases of up to 30% last week as students returned to school following winter recess. For each of those productions — “Aladdin,” “Chicago,” “Hadestown,” “Hamilton,” “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” “Moulin Rouge!,” “Six,” “The Book of Mormon,” “The Lion King” and “Wicked” — the average ticket price was as much as $28 lower than the prior week.

For the week ending March 5, the 24 shows running grossed $25,163,054, down 3%. Overall capacity was down 5%, with all productions playing to 88%.

The three highest-grossing productions were “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Funny Girl” and “The Lion King.”

Six productions played to 95% capacity or greater — a stark contrast to last week when 17 shows hit that benchmark. Four played to less than 70%.

In addition to long-running productions, several new shows saw significant gross decreases last week.

“A Beautiful Noise” grossed $801,215, down 9%, and played to just 62% capacity, down 13%.

“& Juliet” saw a 17% gross decrease, earning $1,015,317. The new musical played to 93% capacity, down 8%.

“Leopoldstadt” had its lowest-grossing week yet, earning just $545,144, down 13%. Capacity was down 11%, with the production playing to just 61%.

“Some Like It Hot” had its lowest-grossing week since December. The new musical earned $663,635, down 20%, and played to 63% capacity, down 18%.

Meanwhile, “Funny Girl” was the only current production not in previews to see both gross and capacity increases. After a week of decreases due to planned absences, the musical earned $1,807,392, up 94%, and played to 91%, up 7%.

“Bob Fosse’s ‘Dancin’” began previews last week. “Parade,” “Sweeney Todd,” “A Doll’s House” and “Bad Cinderella” remained in previews.
