“Broadway Bares,” a yearly event produced by and benefitting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, has announced a 2023 date.
The 31st annual event will be held on June 18 at Hammerstein Ballroom as a kickoff to New York City’s Pride Week. Two performances will be held (at 9:30 p.m. and midnight), featuring burlesque production numbers combined with choreography and striptease.
Laya Barak returns to direct and will be joined by co-director Kellen Stancil, who has choreographed for past presentations of “Bares.” Jonathan Lee serves as associate director. Jerry Mitchell — who created the event — and Nick Kenkel serve as executive producers.
More than 150 dancers will be featured in this year’s show. A theme will be announced in May.
Last year’s “Broadway Bares” raised more than $1.9 million for the organization. Over $21 million has been raised since the event began in 1992.
