Broadway Across America and Black Theatre Coalition’s joint apprenticeship program will return in spring

Applications are now open for the 14-week, nationwide training program.

Broadway Across America (BAA) and Black Theatre Coalition (BTC) have announced the return of their joint regional apprenticeship in spring 2025. The 14-week, paid program focuses on the business side of the commercial theater industry, with the goal of increasing involvement by individuals from communities that have been historically underrepresented in American theater.

BAA, part of the John Gore Organization (the parent company of Broadway News), will host the program in their Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Louisville, Minneapolis, New York City, Ottawa, Salt Lake City and Seattle offices. Topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to, presenting, ticketing, marketing strategy and theater operations. Participants will travel to New York City for the final week of the program for industry networking and additional on-site training.

“Everyone at Broadway Across America and the John Gore Organization is very happy to be launching applications for the fourth year of this program,” said John Gore Organization president Lauren Reid in a statement. “We have seen many brilliant early-career professionals enter our industry after completing the apprenticeship and we can’t wait to welcome a new cohort of apprentices to the program. We are proud to partner with BTC to create more pathways for the future workforce of the theater community.”

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Broadway Across America, offering opportunities that uplift underrepresented voices. Through our partnership with BAA, we’re building a more equitable industry, ”said T. Oliver Reid and Warren Adams, co-founders of BTC. “This program provides crucial, hands-on experience for those usually left out of the conversation and helps ensure that the future of American theater reflects the diversity of its artists and audiences.”

Applications for the apprenticeship’s fourth cohort are being accepted through Oct. 18. Additional information about the BAA/BTC apprenticeship can be found here.
