The Broadway production of “Moulin Rouge!” will welcome Boy George back to the cast. Boy George will step into the role of Harold Zidler beginning on March 18, 2025 for a limited engagement through May 25 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Beginning March 25, Boy George will not appear at Tuesday evening performances; an alternate performer will be announced. The role of Zidler is currently being portrayed by Robert Petkoff, who is temporarily taking over for Austin Durant, through Jan. 5, 2025.

Boy George played a tenure as Zidler from February to May 2024. Boy George previously appeared as Leigh Bowery in 2003’s “Taboo,” for which he wrote the Tony Award-nominated score. The Grammy Award winner served as lead singer of the 1980s pop band Culture Club.

In addition to Petkoff, the current company of “Moulin Rouge!” includes Solea Pfeiffer as Satine, John Cardoza as Christian, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as the Duke of Monroth, Pepe Muñoz as Santiago and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel.

“Moulin Rouge!” follows Christian, a young writer newly arrived in Belle Époque Paris, and his romance with Satine, the star attraction of the infamous Moulin Rouge nightclub. Featuring Tony Award-winning direction by Alex Timbers and Tony-winning choreography by Sonya Tayeh, “Moulin Rouge!” opened on July 25, 2019, and went on to win 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

“Moulin Rouge!” is produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Gerry Ryan OAM for Global Creatures and Bill Damaschke.
