Bonnie Langford and Gavin Lee of ‘Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends’ to host post-show conversation

The musical, which celebrates the career of the late Tony Award-winning songwriter, opened on April 8.

The Broadway production of “Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” has announced a post-show event. “Old Friends” company members Bonnie Langford and Gavin Lee will host a conversation, moderated by Peter Gethers, immediately following the 7 p.m. performance on April 17. All ticket holders for the performance are welcome to attend.

The conversation is being arranged in partnership with Penguin Random House Vintage, the publishers of several books celebrating the life and work of Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, including “Hat Box: The Collected Lyrics of Stephen Sondheim,” “Everyman's Library Pocket Poet: Sondheim featuring works by Stephen Sondheim” and “Stephen Sondheim: A Life by Meryl Secrest.”

Additional “Old Friends” partnerships and events include an ongoing Sondheim photo exhibit at the Solomon Lounge in the lower lobby of the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (a partnership with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and CMI Archives) and the upcoming “Conversation with Lea Salonga,” which will take place at 92NY on May 5.

Following previews that began on March 25, “Old Friends” opened at Manhattan Theatre Club’s (MTC) Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 8. The Matthew Bourne-directed revue, which received an extension prior to the start of previews, will run through June 15. In addition to Salonga, Lee and Langford, the production stars Bernadette Peters, Beth Leavel

Jacob Dickey, Kevin Earley, Paige Faure, Jasmine Forsberg, Kate Jennings Grant, Alexa Lopez, Greg Mills, Peter Neureuther, Jason Pennycooke, Joanna Riding, Jeremy Secomb, Kyle Selig, Maria Wirries and Daniel Yearwood. Casting is by Tara Rubin, Xavier Rubiano, and Peter Van Dam for The TRC Company. “Old Friends” features musical supervision by Alfonso Casado Trigo and musical direction by Annbritt duChateau. 

“Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” is produced by MTC, under the leadership of artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive director Chris Jennings, in association with CMI and Daryl Roth, presenting the production by Cameron Mackintosh.
