The musical adaptation of “Beetlejuice” will have its world premiere at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. this October, the production announced Wednesday.
“Beetlejuice” will be directed by Alex Timbers with choreography from Connor Gallagher, a score by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. The musical is produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Langley Park Productions.
The show, which calls the D.C. run its “pre-Broadway engagement,” has not yet announced casting or specific performance dates.
The creative team includes David Korins on scenic design, costume design by William Ivey Long and puppet design by Michael Curry.
Based on the 1988 film, the musical follows teenager Lydia Deetz, whose house is haunted by a demon and a recently deceased couple. Deetz calls on the demon, Beetlejuice, to scare away her parents.
