“The Band’s Visit” took home the prize for outstanding production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway musical Friday afternoon at the Drama League Awards.
The Drama League, which is made up of industry professionals, producers, artists and other members of the theater community, chose “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” for outstanding production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway play. Out of the more than 50 performers nominated, Glenda Jackson took home the Distinguished Performance Award for her role in “Three Tall Women.”
“Angels in America” won outstanding revival of a play and “My Fair Lady” won outstanding revival of a musical.
The Drama League also honored Casey Nicholaw with The Founders Award for Excellence in directing, Idina Menzel with the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award and the National Endowment for the Arts with the Unique Contribution to Theater Award.
