Broadway’s “& Juliet” will offer a sing-along event following the 7 p.m. performance on May 16. AJ McLean, a member of the Backstreet Boys, will host the event at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. All ticket holders are invited to join after the performance.
“& Juliet” features a slew of Max Martin songs, including several made famous by the Backstreet Boys: “I Want It That Way,” “Show Me the Meaning,” “Everybody,” “As Long as You Love Me” and “Shape of My Heart.”
This announcement follows a trend of post-show programming offered over the past season at shows such as “The Notebook,” “Water for Elephants,” “A Beautiful Noise,” “Chicago,” “Purlie Victorious” and “Here Lies Love.” In November 2023, “& Juliet” offered an entire performance where the audience was encouraged to sing along.
Featuring a Tony Award-nominated book by David West Read, “& Juliet” explores an alternative ending to Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” in which the titular heroine survives and decides her own destiny. The musical opened on Nov. 17, 2022 and was nominated for nine 2023 Tony awards, including Best Musical.
“& Juliet” is produced by Max Martin, Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Jenny Petersson, Martin Dodd and Eva Price.
