Attendance drops across Broadway as box office hovers above $30 million

For the week ending May 7, the 34 productions running grossed $30,153,133.

Several long-running Broadway shows recorded their lowest capacities in recent months as overall attendance slid last week. “Six” played to 83% capacity — an attendance number that hasn’t been that low since the musical played to 82% capacity during the week ending Jan. 9, 2022.

Also of note, “The Lion King” played to its lowest capacity since the week ending Jan. 30, 2022. “The Book of Mormon” performed to less than 90%-full houses for the first time since the week ending June 19, 2022. “Wicked” played to 86%, its lowest since the week ending Oct. 30, 2022. And “Aladdin” played to 92% capacity, its lowest since the week ending Nov. 20, 2022.
