Ashley Loren, Derek Klena, Declan Bennett and Caleb Marshall-Villarreal will step into lead roles in the Broadway company of “Moulin Rouge!” when the production’s current principals depart next month.
The performers, announced Friday, will play their first performance in the new roles on May 10.
Loren will assume the role of Satine full-time after having been the Satine alternate. Derek Klena, most recently seen in his Tony-nominated performance in “Jagged Little Pill,” will take on the role of Christian.
Marshall-Villarreal will take over as Santiago, after having been a swing and understudy for the role since 2019. Bennett (“Rent,” “American Idiot”) will join the company as the Duke of Monroth.
The production announced last month that leads Aaron Tveit, Natalie Mendoza, Tam Mutu and Ricky Rojas would depart the musical on May 8.
“Moulin Rouge!” reopened at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Sept. 24, 2021. The musical is lead produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Bill Damaschke.
