Ariana DeBose will host the 75th Annual Tony Awards next month.
DeBose, previously seen on Broadway in shows including “Hamilton,” “Summer,” “A Bronx Tale,” and “Bring it On The Musical,” won the 2022 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” film.
It is her first time hosting the Broadway awards ceremony. DeBose previously co-hosted ABC’s red carpet pre-show for the 2021 Academy Awards. She also hosted “Saturday Night Live” earlier this year.
Last year’s two-part Tony Awards special was hosted by Leslie Odom, Jr. and Audra McDonald.
The Tony Awards will take place at 8:00 p.m on June 12 at Radio City Music Hall. For the first time, the ceremony will be broadcast live on both coasts on CBS and Paramount+.
An additional hour of exclusive content will be available on Paramount+ from 7:00 p.m. A host for this portion of the evening will be revealed at a later date.
“The 75th Tony Awards celebration is a big moment for all of us in the theatre community, and in Ariana we have found the perfect host to lead this celebration,” said Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing and Charlotte St. Martin, president of The Broadway League. “We can’t wait to see Ariana take the stage on June 12th and dazzle, inspire, and entertain us.”
