Broadway’s “The Notebook” will welcome a new principal company member. Aisha Jackson will step into the role of Middle Allie on Oct. 22 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Jackson will replace Joy Woods, who originated the role in the production’s pre-Broadway mounting in Chicago. Woods, who is slated to appear in the upcoming revival of “Gypsy,” will play her final “Notebook” performance on Oct. 20.
Jackson most recently appeared on the Main Stem as Snow White in “Once Upon a One More Time.” She served as a standby in both “Frozen” and “Paradise Square,” a swing in “Beautiful” and an ensemble member in “Waitress.”
In addition to Woods, the principal company of “The Notebook” includes Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie, Dorian Harewood as Older Noah and Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah. As previously announced, John Cadoza and Jordan Tyson, who play Younger Noah and Younger Allie, respectively, will depart the reproduction on Oct. 6; Benji Santiago and Anna Zavelson will succeed them beginning on Oct. 8. Casting is by the Telsey Office/Patrick Goodwin.
Featuring a score by Ingrid Michaelson and a Tony Award-nominated book by Bekah Brunstetter based on Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 novel, “The Notebook” chronicles the love story between Noah and Allie as seen through three generations of their lives. The Michael Greif- and Schele Williams-directed production opened on March 14 and received three 2024 Tony Award nominations. As previously announced, the musical will close on Dec. 15.
“The Notebook” is produced by Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch.
