Adrienne Warren will return to “Tina” in the title role this fall.
Warren, who is nominated for a Tony Award for her portrayal, will return for an unspecified “limited engagement” starting Oct. 8. Additional casting for the musical will be announced at a later date.
Warren originated the role of Tina Turner on the West End and on Broadway. She returns to Broadway after speaking out about the need for greater inclusion in the community and urging lead actors to include contract riders stating that they will not work in an environment that feels unsafe for any member.
“Tina” had been running at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre from Oct. 12, 2019 until the March 12, 2020 shutdown. The musical is written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
