Joe Barnes has been named the national director of organizing for Actors’ Equity.
Barnes previously worked for three years as the national representative for SAG-AFTRA and as a campaign manager for grassroots advocacy organization Compassion and Choices. At Equity, Barnes will be based in Los Angeles and will work on finding more work opportunities for Equity members and fostering greater engagement of members within the union.
“Joe’s experience working with labor unions and actors will take our organizing campaigns to the next level,” Executive Director Mary McColl said in the press release. “He will add value to our organizing work all across the country.”
