Quincy Tyler Bernstine made her Broadway debut in 2009’s “In the Next Room,” but Bernstine has been steadily working Off-Broadway and regionally for years. In fact, in 2019, the actor earned an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence of Performance.

This season, Bernstine took on the role of Mrs. Muller in the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of John Patrick Shanley’s “Doubt.” Famously, the character appears in one scene — but it’s the emotional crux of the drama.

In this chat, Bernstine delves into the strength of Shanley’s text, the meat of her character and the boy she pictures as Mrs. Muller’s son.
