Producers Anne Clarke, Mara Isaacs and Neal Street have announced that they will bring Gabriel Byrne’s autobiographical solo show, “Walking with Ghosts,” to the Music Box Theatre this fall.

Adapted from Byrne’s memoir of the same name, the play will be directed by Lonny Price. “Walking with Ghosts” is scheduled to begin performances on October 18, with an official opening night set for October 27.

The show premiered earlier this year at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre and the Edinburgh International Festival. It will play a limited run on the West End from September 7 through September 16 before Broadway.

Press notes describe the show as “by turns a sensory recollection of a childhood spent in a now almost vanished Ireland, a subversive commentary on stardom, and — ultimately — a lyrical homage to the people and landscapes that shape our destinies, ‘Walking with Ghosts’ reflects a remarkable life’s journey in all its hilarious and heartbreaking facets.”

Byrne, a two-time Tony nominee and Golden Globe winner for his work on “In Treatment,” was last seen on Broadway in the 2016 revival of “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”

“What an honor to be on Broadway again, especially in a glorious venue like the Music Box,” Byrne commented. “It was a real joy to hear laughter in a theater during the premiere run of ‘Walking with Ghosts’ in Dublin. I’ve chosen to be honest and unflinching in the recounting of a life from working-class Dublin to Hollywood. Although rooted in the local, I hope the play has a universal resonance.”

“Walking with Ghosts” was commissioned and first produced by Landmark Productions. Along with Price, the creative team includes set and lighting designer Sinéad McKenna, costume designer Joan O’Clery and composer/sound designer Sinéad Diskin. Wagner Johnson Productions serve as executive producers.
