Angelica Ross to make Broadway debut in ‘Chicago’

The producers of “Chicago” have announced that actress and human rights advocate Angelica Ross will make her Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart. She will play an eight-week run beginning September 12, finishing on November 6.

The producers of “Chicago” have announced that actress and human rights advocate Angelica Ross will make her Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart. She will play an eight-week run beginning September 12, finishing on November 6. According to the show’s press representatives, Ross will become the first openly transgender woman to play a leading role in a Broadway show.

Ross is well-known for her roles in television shows including “Pose” and “American Horror Story.” She is the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises, which is described as “an award-winning program that helps people lift themselves out of poverty through technical training, digital work creating a social impact, resource-sharing and bringing economic empowerment to marginalized communities with a focus on Black queer and trans.”

Ross will take over the role of Roxie Hart from Bianca Marroquín. As previously announced, Ryoko Yonekura will assume the role on November 7 for 16 performances.
