‘The Piano Lesson’ announces complete Broadway cast and creative team

The producers of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson” announced that Nadia Daniel and Jurnee Elizabeth Swan will alternate the role of Marthea in the upcoming revival.

Other newly announced cast members include Shirine Babb, Charles Browning, Peter Jay Fernandez, Sharina Martin, Warner Miller, Doron JePaul Mitchell and Kim Sullivan. They will appear with the previously announced cast, which includes Samuel L. Jackson, Danielle Brooks, John David Washington, Trai Byers, April Matthis, Ray Fisher, and Michael Potts.

Joining the creative team are projection designer Jeff Sugg, as well as Jason Michael Webb, who will be composing new music for the production. Webb won a special Tony Award in 2019 for his incidental music and arrangements in ‘Choir Boy.’

‘The Piano Lesson’ begins previews on Sept. 19 at the Barrymore Theatre. Directed by LaTanya Richardson Jackson, the creative team includes set designer Beowolf Boritt, costume designer Toni-Leslie James, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer Scott Lehrer and wig designer Cookie Jordan. The revival is produced by Brian Anthony Moreland, Sonia Friedman, Tom Kirdahy, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker.
