‘& Juliet’ to open on Broadway this fall

“& Juliet,” the new original musical that opened on London’s West End in 2019, will begin performances on Broadway this fall. Previews are set to begin at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Oct. 28, with an opening night scheduled for Nov. 17.

“& Juliet,” the new original musical that opened on London’s West End in 2019, will begin performances on Broadway this fall.

Previews are set to begin at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Oct. 28, with an opening night scheduled for Nov. 17.

The new musical is currently playing a pre-Broadway engagement in Toronto, which is scheduled to open Thursday night.

“& Juliet” features a book by David West Read and music by Max Martin.

The current cast includes Lorna Courtney, Paulo Szot, Betsy Wolfe, Stark Sands, Justin David Sullivan, Melanie La Barrie, Ben Jackson Walker and Philippe Arroyo.

They are joined by Brandon Antonio, Nico DeJesus, Nicholas Edwards, Virgil Gadson, Katy Geraghty, Bobby “Pocket” Horner, Joomin Hwang, Michael Iván Carrier, Alaina Vi Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Joe Moeller, Brittany Nicholas, Veronica Otim, Jasmine Rafael, Matt Raffy, Tiernan Tunnicliffe and Rachel Webb.

Much of the West End creative team will work on the Broadway production, including David West Read (Book), Max Martin (Music & Lyrics), Luke Sheppard (Direction), Jennifer Weber (Choreography), Soutra Gilmour (Scenic Design), Paloma Young (Costume Design), Howard Hudson (Lighting Design), Gareth Owen (Sound Design), Bill Sherman (Musical Supervision, Orchestrations and Arrangements), J. Jared Janas (Hair, Wig & Makeup Design) and Dominic Fallacaro (Music Director).

US Casting is by Stephen Kopel and Carrie Gardner, CSA.

The musical is Executive Produced on Broadway by Eva Price.

“& Juliet” is produced on Broadway by Max Martin, Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Jenny Petersson, Martin Dodd and Eva Price.

The new musical, which uses contemporary pop songs to flip the script on the traditional story of Romeo and Juliet, received its World Premiere at the Manchester Opera House in England in September 2019 before moving to the West End.

An Australian production is planned for Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in February 2023.
