Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has restored its grant amounts to pre-pandemic levels.

In June, BC/EFA awarded $2,135,000 to more than 260 social service providers.

This was the third round of grants awarded in this fiscal year.

The 2022 Broadway Cares’ National Grants Program awarded a total of $5,712,500, supporting 435 social service organizations in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.

“The National Grants Program has been restored to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, and I cannot overstate what this means to me, the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Board of Directors and the entire staff,” said executive director Tom Viola. “It will make a difference in how a wide variety of services can continue to be delivered to hundreds of thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS, COVID and other serious, debilitating illnesses in New York City and across the country. Bravo and thank you to all who have made this possible.”

The Broadway Cares’ National Grants Committee, which consists of 21 Broadway actors and stage managers, helped determine the grants.

Four specific categories were the focus of this round of funding.

Those categories included Direct Services, Emergency Financial Assistance, Harm Reduction Programs and Quality of Life Services.

In addition to the more than $5 million awarded through this round of grants, $8.2 million has been awarded to a handful of organizations including The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), The Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative, The Friedman Health Center, Artists Health Insurance Resource Center, The Dancers Resource, Addiction and Recovery Services, Senior Services and others.
