“A Strange Loop” will record an original Broadway cast album on April 10, Ghostlight Records and Yellow Sound Label announced Thursday.
The album’s release date will be announced later this season.
Michael Croiter and Michael R. Jackson will produce the album alongside executive producers Kurt Deutsch and Barbara Whitman. The musical’s orchestrator Charlie Rosen as well as music director and music supervisor Rona Siddiqui will co-produce.
A recording of the Off-Broadway cast was released in 2019, after the musical’s premiere at Playwrights Horizons. Larry Owens performed the lead role of Usher at that time.
The Broadway cast includes Jaquel Spivey as Usher in his Broadway debut, alongside Antwayn Hopper, L Morgan Lee, John-Michael Lyles, James Jackson, Jr., John-Andrew Morrison and Jason Veasey.
“A Strange Loop” is set to begin performances at the Lyceum Theatre on April 6. The musical is produced by Whitman, Page 73 Productions, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and Playwrights Horizons.
