Angela Reed will take over the role of Ginny Potter in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” producers announced Monday.

Reed joins Steve Haggard, who has officially taken over the role of Harry Potter, after filling in for the part since November.

Haggard assumed the role from James Snyder, who was fired from the production due to a complaint from Diane Davis, who was playing Ginny Potter at the time. Davis took a personal leave of absence from the production.

Reed, who played Ginny Potter in the production’s San Francisco company and was an original cast member of the Broadway company, takes over the role of Ginny Potter starting May 3.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” resumed performances at the Lyric Theatre on Nov. 12, 2021 after the theatrical shutdown. The play now runs as a singular two-act play, rather than in two individual parts, as it had previously. Tickets are on sale for performances through January 15, 2023.
