Jewelle Blackman will take over the role of Persephone in “Hadestown” starting April 5, producers announced Friday.

Blackman currently plays one of the Fates and has been an original cast member since the musical’s 2017 developmental production in Edmonton. She previously served as an understudy for Persephone.

Lana Gordon, who assumed the role of Persephone in February, will play her final performance in the show on April 3.

Soara-Joye Ross will join the company on April 5 to take over Blackman’s role as one of the Fates. Ross most recently appeared in the Off-Broadway production of “Carmen Jones.”

“Hadestown” reopened on Sept. 2, 2021 after the theatrical shutdown. Directed by Rachel Chavkin and featuring a score by Anaïs Mitchell, the musical is produced by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold and Tom Kirdahy.
