‘Hadestown’ cancels March 12 Broadway performances

“Hadestown” canceled its matinee and evening performance on March 12.  “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Saturday matinee and evening performances were cancelled,” said a spokesperson for the production.  This follows the cancellation of the Wednesday matinee earlier in the week.

“Hadestown” canceled its matinee and evening performance on March 12.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Saturday matinee and evening performances were cancelled,” said a spokesperson for the production.

This follows the cancellation of the Wednesday matinee earlier in the week. The production saw a number of company members out throughout the week, due to a combination of pre-scheduled absences, an injury, a vacation and illness.

The March 13 matinee went on as scheduled.

Amber Gray, who originated the role of Persephone in “Hadestown” and departed the cast in February, returned to the production Friday to cover the role.

At the Wednesday evening performance, dance captain and swing T. Oliver Reid played one of the Fates, a role he does not typically cover. Several other original cast members returned to the Broadway production last week to fill in for needed roles, according to pictures of the call board on social media.
