A political farce about the women running the White House will make its world premiere on Broadway this spring.

The play by Selina Fillinger, entitled “POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive,” stars Lilli Cooper, Lea DeLaria, Rachel Dratch, Julianne Hough, Suzy Nakamura, Julie White and Vanessa Williams. Susan Stroman, a five-time Tony Award winning director, will direct the play.

“POTUS” will play the Shubert Theatre starting on April 14, 2022, with an opening night scheduled for May 9. The limited engagement runs through Aug. 14, 2022.

The cast also includes Anita Abdinezhad, Gisela Chípe, Jennifer Fouché and Lisa Helmi Johanson as standbys.

This marks the Broadway debut for Fillinger, a Los Angeles-based playwright whose previous plays include “Something Clean” and “Faceless.”

“To do a play with an all-female cast by a great young writer who is a woman, with the great Susan Stroman directing feels like the universe bending towards justice. No lie, as a second wave feminist I have found ways to subvert the patriarchy but never just outright rejected it. Here is my chance. I think we are gonna have a comedy revolution at the Shubert Theatre this spring. Be there, bitches!,” White wrote in a statement to Broadway News.

It is also the Broadway debut for Hough (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Footloose”), “Saturday Night Live” star Dratch and Nakamura (“Avenue 5″). The other cast members are stage veterans, with Cooper recently appearing in “Tootsie” and White recently appearing in “Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus.” Williams is known for her role in the Broadway revival of “Into the Woods” and DeLaria has appeared on Broadway in “The Rocky Horror Show.”

The play is produced by Seaview, 51 Entertainment, Glass Half Full Productions and Level Forward.

“POTUS” features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Sonoyo Nishikawa and sound design by Jessica Paz.
