Baize Buzan to play Scout Finch in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ on Broadway

Baize Buzan will rejoin the Broadway company of “To Kill a Mockingbird” in the role of Scout Finch starting Jan. 5, producer Barry Diller announced Friday. Buzan takes on the role after working as an understudy in the original cast of the Broadway production.

Baize Buzan will rejoin the Broadway company of “To Kill a Mockingbird” in the role of Scout Finch starting Jan. 5, producer Barry Diller announced Friday.

Buzan takes on the role after working as an understudy in the original cast of the Broadway production. She assumes the part from Celia Keenan-Bolger, who originated the role and won a Tony Award for her portrayal in 2019.

Buzan’s first performance in the role will coincide with Greg Kinnear’s first performance as Atticus Finch. Jeff Daniels, who originated the role of Atticus Finch on Broadway, and Keenan-Bolger played their final performances in the play Jan. 2.

Original cast member Mariah Lee will take over the role of Mayella Ewell starting Jan. 11.

“To Kill a Mockingbird,” adapted by Aaron Sorkin from the novel by Harper Lee, reopened at the Shubert Theatre Oct. 5. The production’s director is Bartlett Sher and its executive producer is Orin Wolf, who assumed the role after Scott Rudin departed.
