He replaces original cast member Danny Burstein, who won a Tony Award, an Outer Critics Circle Awards honor and the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance for the role. Burstein will play his final performance in the musical Jan. 16.

Anderson has previously appeared on Broadway in “Kinky Boots” and “Pretty Woman,” among others. On Dec. 12, he completed a run as Cal in the return engagement of “Waitress,” currently playing the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

“Moulin Rouge!” reopened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Sept. 24. The show, produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Gerry Ryan OAM for Global Creatures and Bill Damaschke, was awarded the Tony Award for Best Musical in September.
