“Diana” will play its final Broadway performance on Dec. 19, producers announced Friday.

At that time, the new musical will have played 33 performances and 16 previews at the Longacre Theatre this season. The musical opened on Nov. 17 to largely negative reviews.

One month before the Broadway opening, the production released a Netflix capture of the musical. “Diana” had played nine preview performances before the March 12, 2020 shutdown.

The musical features a book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by David Bryan. Christopher Ashley directed the musical, which featured choreography by Kelly Devine.

The company was led by Jeanna de Waal as Diana, Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles, Erin Davie as Camilla Parker Bowles and Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth.

“We are extraordinarily proud of the Diana company and of the show onstage at the Longacre. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the cast, crew and everyone involved in creating the show. And to the audiences who have shown their love and support at every performance,” producers Grove Entertainment, Frank Marshall and the Araca Group said in a joint statement.

“Diana” was capitalized for up to $17.575 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange commission.

This is the fourth Broadway show to post a closing notice following the industry’s reopening. “Chicken & Biscuits,” “Dana H.” and “Is This a Room” closed in late November.
