The Thursday evening performance of “Lackawanna Blues,” which was meant to be the show’s new opening night, was cancelled due to a recurrence of lead Ruben Santiago-Hudson’s back injury.

The production had previously cancelled performances the weekend of Sept. 24 and rescheduled the show’s press opening to Oct. 7 from the initial opening date of Sept. 28. Santiago-Hudson stars in the solo show, which he wrote and directs.

Reviews were still published Thursday evening.

“We hope to be back in performance tomorrow evening,” Manhattan Theatre Club tweeted Thursday.
