CBS and The Tony Awards announced Monday that Leslie Odom, Jr. and Audra McDonald will serve as hosts for the two-part Tony Awards special to be held on Sept. 26.
Audra McDonald will host the first portion of the evening, which will consist of the live presentation of the majority of the evening’s awards. The American Theatre Wing’s 74th Annual Tony Awards will stream exclusively on Paramount+ starting at 7 p.m.
Leslie Odom, Jr. will host the evening’s televised special, “The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back!,” which will broadcast on CBS at 9 p.m. This part will include musical performances of Broadway classics celebrating the industry’s return, along with performances by the season’s three Best Musical-nominated productions and the presentation of the awards for Best Play, Best Revival of a Play and Best Musical.
As previously announced, the 2019-2020 Tony Awards will be presented from the Winter Garden Theatre as part of a four-hour event to be broadcast on two different CBS platforms.
