The John Gore Organization and Black Theatre Coalition announced on Tuesday the creation of a new joint initiative, The Black Theatre Coalition/Broadway Across America Fellowship.

Launching in January 2022, the fellowship program will offer fourteen-week paid, part-time fellowship opportunities within Broadway Across America offices throughout the United States. Participants will be trained in various areas of theatrical operations, including Marketing, PR, Sales, Programming, Accounting and Finance, Operations, Venue Management and Ticketing.

A total of 10 candidates will be selected to join the program’s first cohort. The program will be open to undergraduate juniors and seniors as well as recent college graduates interested in pursuing careers in commercial theater.

The program is designed to address the underrepresentation of BIPOC theater professionals currently working in the commercial theater industry. By creating opportunities for practical training, industry awareness and networking, the program will prepare participants to begin their professional careers.

Applications for the program are expected to open in the fall. Updates will be posted on the fellowship website.
