The new musical “Mrs. Doubtfire” will resume performances on Broadway Oct. 21.

The musical, which played three previews before the March 12, 2020 shutdown, will open at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Dec. 5. Rob McClure is confirmed to return in the title role.

“Mrs. Doubtfire” features a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick and direction by Jerry Zaks. Kevin McCollum, who is also leading “Six,” is the lead producer.

Like many other returning shows, “Mrs. Doubtfire” lists safety protocols that may include mask wearing, temperature checks, social distancing “when reasonable” and contact tracing, with additional protocols to be determined by the state and theater owners.

The Stephen Sondheim Theatre, owned by the Roundabout Theatre Company, has MERV 15 filters as part of its ventilation system.

The musical returns to Broadway following a 2019 run at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre.
