“Thoughts of a Colored Man” announced Thursday that it will play the Golden Theatre.

The new play, written by Keenan Scott II and directed by Steve H. Broadnax III, has not yet announced dates for its Broadway bow. “Hangmen” was the last show to take up residence in theater, playing 13 preview performances before the shutdown, but announced in March that it would not return.

In preparation for its run, “Thoughts of a Colored Man” installed a new marquee at the Golden Theatre Thursday.

The creative team for “Thoughts of a Colored Man” includes music by Te’La and Brother Kamau, set design by Robert Brill, co-costume design by Toni-Leslie James and Devario D. Simmons, lighting design by Ryan O’Gara, projection design by Sven Ortel and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman. Casting has not yet been announced.

The play is produced by Brian Moreland, Ron Simons, Diana DiMenna, Samira Wiley, Sheryl Lee Ralph, the Shubert Organization and the Nederlander Organization.
