The Broadway production of “The Minutes” is vacating the Cort Theatre Monday to allow the Shubert Organization to make renovations on the theater.

“The Minutes,” written by Tracy Letts and directed by Anna D. Shapiro, plans to return to Broadway, with a reopening date of March 15, 2022. The producing team, led by Jeffrey Richards and Rebecca Gold, said they are “hopeful” the original cast which includes Armie Hammer, Jessie Mueller and Blair Brown, will return with the production.

The play began previews at the Cort Theatre on Feb. 25, 2020, but never officially opened due to the Broadway shutdown.

“The Shubert Organization had graciously allowed us to extend past our initial announced limited engagement (July 19, 2020) to the fall,” the producers said in a press release. “And we intend to reopen the production, pending cast and theatre availability, on Broadway on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, exactly two years after our original opening date of Sunday, March 15, 2020.”

The full cast for the production also includes Ian Barford, Cliff Chamberlain, K. Todd Freeman, Letts, Danny McCarthy, Sally Murphy, Austin Pendleton and Jeff Still.

The Shubert Theater had previously submitted a proposal for renovations to the theater, including a 19,250-square foot annex next to the theater with bathrooms, concessions and a rehearsal space, as well as restoring the facade of the theater.
