David Byrne’s “American Utopia” has rescheduled its Broadway return to Sept. 17, 2021.

The show initially intended to return to the Hudson Theatre on Broadway in fall 2020, after a run at that theater beginning in fall 2019. The theater for the upcoming run has not yet been announced.

Broadway theaters are currently closed through May 30, 2021, but several shows, including “MJ” and “Flying Over Sunset,” have rescheduled runs beginning in fall 2021.

“We all need things to look forward to at this time,” Byrne said in the press release. “I can’t wait to get back on stage, live, in person with my fellow band members to perform for audiences in person. I realize now, more than ever, how much I miss performing this show with the band in front of a live Broadway audience.”

The filmed version of “American Utopia,” directed by Spike Lee, is set to premiere on HBO on Oct. 17.
