The Actors Fund is launching a health insurance counseling and education campaign for performing artists and entertainment workers.

The campaign, Every Artist Ensured, will provide workers in danger of losing their health insurance with education and advice on selecting plans from the state health insurance exchanges. The Actors Fund is launching the campaign with a $1 million donation from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.

That gift will be used to hire and train additional health insurance counselors for the Artists Health Insurance Resource Center, an existing part of the Actors Fund.

As the closure of Broadway shows and other industries continues, arts and entertainment workers are unable to earn the work weeks needed to maintain health insurance coverage through their unions.

“One of our biggest immediate concerns in the midst of the pandemic is access to health insurance,” said Actors Fund Chairman Brian Stokes Mitchell. “We have a short window of time to address this problem facing potentially thousands of people.”
