The musical adaptation of “Some Like It Hot” will now head straight to Broadway in fall 2021.

The musical was originally slated to make its world premiere in Chicago in 2021, but that engagement has now been cancelled. The Broadway cast, theater and exact production dates have not yet been announced.

“Some Like it Hot” features a book by Matthew Lopez, music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Casey Nicholaw has been tapped as choreographer and director.

The musical, produced by the Shubert Organization and Neil Meron, was developed as part of an overall production package between the parties, as well as the late Craig Zadan.

It is based on the 1959 MGM film, which starred Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, in which two male musicians are forced to disguise themselves as women in an all-female band after they witness a murder.
