The 74th Annual Tony Awards, originally scheduled for June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, will be postponed and scheduled to a later date, a spokesperson for the awards show said Wednesday.

That date and additional information will be announced “once Broadway opens again,” according to the spokesperson. Though there is not yet a clear timeline for when the new ceremony will be, moving the Tony Awards would require a shift in eligibility dates for upcoming productions.

“We are looking forward to celebrating Broadway and our industry when it is safe to do so,” the Tony Awards said in a statement.

The new date will be set in coordination with CBS, which broadcasts the Tony Awards.

The previous cut-off date for Tony eligibility was April 23, meaning that new shows would need to open by that date to be eligible for awards consideration. Tony Awards nominations were initially scheduled to be announced on April 28.

The Broadway League has not yet updated its guidance on theater closures. Under the current edict, Broadway theaters are scheduled to be closed through April 12, with a reopening date on April 13. The League said Wednesday that there was no new information on this timeline.

However, nonprofit producers have already pushed three new Broadway productions — “Flying Over Sunset,” “Birthday Candles” and “Caroline, or Change” — to the fall. “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “Hangmen,” which were both scheduled to open this season have already announced they will not reopen.
