Presley Ryan will take over the lead role of Lydia in “Beetlejuice” for the next month, the production announced Wednesday.

Ryan had been an understudy for original cast member Sophia Anne Caruso, who announced that she had left the production last week. Ryan will play the role of Lydia from Feb. 28 through March 29. Dana Steingold, also an understudy, is currently playing the role and will do so through Feb. 28.

Casting for a Lydia after March 29 has not yet been announced.

Caruso played her final performance on Feb. 19. On Feb. 21, the production said she was leaving the show to pursue television work and that a permanent replacement would be announced this week.

“Beetlejuice” will play its final performance at the Winter Garden Theater on June 6.
