Gus Halper joins Broadway cast of ‘Sing Street’

Gus Halper will move to Broadway with the cast of “Sing Street.”

Halper originated the role of Brendan, the brother of main character, Conor, in the world premiere of “Sing Street” at New York Theatre Workshop this winter.

He joins the rest of the Off-Broadway company in the move to Broadway, including Brenock O’Connor, as Conor, Zara Devlin, Max Bartos, Brendan C. Callahan, Billy Carter, Zara Devlin, Jakeim Hart, Martin Moran, Anne L. Nathan, Johnny Newcomb, Brenock O’Connor, Gian Perez, Sam Poon, Skyler Volpe and Amy Warren.

Dashiell Eaves and Michael Lepore have also joined the cast as off-stage covers.

Directed by Rebecca Taichman, “Sing Street” will play the Lyceum Theatre beginning March 26. Opening night is scheduled for April 19.

The production also announced Friday that the digital cast album from the musical will be released March 26, with the physical CD being sold on April 17. The musical features a score by John Carney, who created the 2016 film that is the basis for the musical, and Gary Clark.
