“A Soldier’s Play” has announced complete casting for its Broadway run this season. 

In addition to the previously announced leads, David Alan Grier and Blair Underwood, the cast will consist of Nnamdi Asomugha, Jerry O’Connell, McKinley Belcher III,  Rob Demery, Jared Grimes, Billy Eugene Jones, Nate Mann, Warner Miller, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Lee Aaron Rosen. 

This play marks the Broadway acting debuts of Nicholson, Miller, Mann, Demery, Belcher and Asomugha, who was formerly a professional football player.  O’Connell has two prior Broadway credits, in addition to numerous film roles, including in “Jerry Maguire.” 

Set at a Louisiana Army Base in 1944, the play centers on the murder of a sergeant and the aftermath of the crime.

“A Soldier’s Play,” written by Charles Fuller and directed by Kenny Leon, begins previews at the American Airlines Theatre on Dec. 27, 2019, and opens on Jan. 21. The Roundabout Theatre Company production is a limited engagement.
