A Neil Diamond biographical musical is being developed for Broadway.

Produced by Ken Davenport and Bob Gaudio, the musical will feature Diamond’s hits and a book by Anthony McCarten, screenwriter of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “The Theory of Everything.” Michael Mayer, director of “Spring Awakening,” has been tapped to direct.

The producers say the musical about Diamond, the artist behind such songs as “Sweet Caroline” and “Cracklin’ Rosie,” is “in development for Broadway.”

“I’ve always loved Broadway. The inspiration for many of my early songs came from shows like ‘West Side Story,’ ‘My Fair Lady’ and Fiddler on the Roof,’ so it seems only fitting to bring my songs to The Great White Way,” Diamond said in the press release. “I’m honored and excited to be working with this great team.”
