Following the news of a Netflix adaptation, “The Prom” has announced it will also be adapted into a young adult novel.
Saundra Mitchell, an author of young adult novels, has written the adaptation of the Broadway musical, which will be published on Sept. 10, 2019 with Viking Children’s Books, an imprint of Penguin.
Mitchell worked with the show’s creative team — book writers Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin (who also wrote the lyrics) and Matthew Sklar, who wrote the music — to convey the “energy and humor of the show” in the book.
“Dear Evan Hansen” was also recently adapted into a novel by author Val Emmich.
