Laurie Metcalf will return to Broadway next season to star in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” alongside Eddie Izzard.

The revival will be directed by Joe Mantello and will also star Russell Tovey and Patsy Ferran. It will play a limited engagement beginning March 2, 2020, with an opening night set for April 9, 2020 at a theater to be announced.

Metcalf, who is currently starring in “Hillary and Clinton” directed by Mantello, returns to Broadway after a recent slate of starring rules in “Three Tall Women” and “A Doll’s House Part 2,” produced by Scott Rudin, as well as “Misery.” She will play the lead role of Martha opposite Izzard’s George.

This is the first return to Broadway in 10 years for Izzard, a British stand-up comedian and actor known for films such as “Across the Universe.” He made his Broadway debut in “A Day in the Death of Joe Egg” in 2002.

Tovey, who last appeared in “A View From the Bridge” on Broadway, will play Nick, and Ferran, who recently won the 2019 Olivier Award for her performance in “Summer and Smoke” will play Honey. Mantello is also represented this Broadway season by “The Boys in the Band.”

This is the fourth revival of Edward Albee’s play on Broadway, since it opened in 1962.
