“Birdman” screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris has written the script for a film adaptation of the “Jekyll & Hyde” musical.

Dinelaris, who was also the book writer for the Broadway musical “On Your Feet!,” will produce the movie adaptation under his development company Lexicon. This is the first production for Lexicon, which has a first-look deal with Bluestone Entertainment, and aims to produce works in film, television and on stage.

“Jekyll & Hyde” opened on Broadway in 1997, with a book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and music by Frank Wildhorn. It had a Broadway revival in 2013.

“After 30 years of our stage productions playing successfully in almost every major country in the world, we are absolutely thrilled to see our musical version of ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ becoming a major motion picture,” Bricusse and Wildhorn said in the press release.

The film will be produced by Dinelaris and his production partner Rob Quadrino, along with Dan Angel, Brian Gott and Marc Iannarino. Phil Kim and David Segel will serve as executive producers.
